• There have been some recent changes in policy approaches to health, disability, employment and support in the UK. An article was written as an off-shoot of a conference in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada in 2011. It gives a summary of some of the changes in policy approaches to work for adults with health issues or disabilities.

• Writing skills and implications for saved costs to companies. There are a number of ways that the financial balances of organisations can be affected by skills levels of workers. One potential significant way is when weak literacy skills leads to faulty record keeping, message communications etc. The impact of literacy errors on various organisational procedures can be qualified, giving managers a clearer idea of which actions are more important to take.
